We have stood against many obstacles for this outing, time, money, transpo, even Dex’s trip to palawan, but the obstacle that overcame us was the lack of girls (seriously).

Since Dex’s trip is moved, we can’t wase the 2000, can we?

We will have an “outing” in QC so that time and money will not be wasted and many people will be allowed to go to the outing :>, I (Victor) have consulted with the almighty class president (Dale Garcia:>), and he said we’ll go to Trinoma ) or if we want a picninc, we can go to the circle , but the president said Trinoma, we can watch a movie, then go to red box, and also play cards , to teach to others the meaning of admin (especially Carl ), we can eat there, although there will be no swimming and overnight

So there :-j I had a very fun school year with you all

It will be on Grand Bay (sorry for the adjustments,Sun City is a very crowded place and we will not enjoy it there.

And a BIG problem, Wren was not allowed in the outing, so we have no transpo ,

3 options:

1) rent a van, 6k balikan

2) rent a classmate’s van, gas = 1000 balikan

3) commute, 200 balikan ;;)

rendezvous point is Walter Mart, for those who will be going from QC, Jollibee anyone?, there is a super market there, we can buy food

Most efficient SLEX path is the last exit leading straight to walter mart and I (Victor) will lead us to Grand bay (courtesy of my cousin)

So yeah, conference tomorrow? anyone?

and 500 pesos each , that covers cottage, rooms, entrance fee (IDK if it covers transpo and food :>)

The date is still debated, but the most ideal is next or next next week or enrollment.

Transpo is still to be discussed, since most of us will be in Manila this March, it is easy to organize a transpo for those who are not near Laguna

If we decide to go for Monte Vista, then max’s has to be our food (outside food is not allowed there), but don’t worry, we still have many choices

Or we could go to Batangas again (Hi Dale :-h)

I. Transition to Modern Times

     A. The Growth of Modern European States

           1. Spain dominates Europe in the 16^th century.

           2.  The Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648) begins as a religious war, but eventually turns into a battle

              to maintain the balance of power.   At its end, much of Germany is in ruins and the Holy Roman

              Empire is severely weakened.

           3. Absolute monarchy triumphs in France during the long reign of Louis XIV (1643-1715).

           4. The power of English monarchs is limited.

            * The reign of Queen Elizabeth I witnesses the rise of England as the leading Protestant state and

               Its rise as a naval power in the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588.

            * In 1628, Parliament forced King Charles I to agree to the Petition of Right, which set forth certain

   civil liberties and limited the power of the king.

* In the (bloodless) “Glorious Revolution” of 1688, Parliament offered the throne to the Protestant

   rulers William and Mary.  The new rulers agreed to the Bill of Rights, which assured the people basic

   civil rights and established Parliament’s power over the English monarch.

           5. Russia is unified and strengthened during the reigns of Ivan the Great (15^th c),

Peter the Great (17^th-18^th c), and Catherine the Great (18^th c).

-          The stock market “crashed” in 1929. This was largely due to the prevalent practice of buying stocks on credit or installment buying (“Buy now, pay later.”)  When consumers could not pay, they stopped buying.  Factories had to cut back production, and unemployment rose.

-          The “crash” resulted in a sharp reduction in stock market prices, bank closures, and a rapid

decline in steel production.

V.  World War II :  Introduction (p.673) & Summary (p.692)

On the day of the SocSci periodic test, submit your SocSci filler.  Take note of the following.

Filler must have:

• your name and section on the cover.
• no photocopies or print-outs attached to it.

Filler must be submitted:

• by 7:15 am at the Humanities Faculty Center
• and placed inside your respective section’s Koko Krunch Box

After the test, do not pass in your filler.
