OPERATION ADMIN

March 17, 2010

The outing v 2.0 is cancelled, because Wren and Desi are not going :| (It’s boring without them)

We have stood against many obstacles for this outing, time, money, transpo, even Dex’s trip to palawan, but the obstacle that overcame us was the lack of girls (seriously).

Since Dex’s trip is moved, we can’t wase the 2000, can we?

We will have an “outing” in QC so that time and money will not be wasted and many people will be allowed to go to the outing :>, I (Victor) have consulted with the almighty class president (Dale Garcia:>), and he said we’ll go to Trinoma :) ) or if we want a picninc, we can go to the circle :D , but the president said Trinoma, we can watch a movie, then go to red box, and also play cards :P , to teach to others the meaning of admin (especially Carl :D ), we can eat there, although there will be no swimming and overnight :|

So there :-j I had a very fun school year with you all :D

Rb outing v 2.0

March 16, 2010

The outing will be on 26, 27, or 28

It will be on Grand Bay (sorry for the adjustments,Sun City is a very crowded place and we will not enjoy it there.

And a BIG problem, Wren was not allowed in the outing, so we have no transpo :( ,

3 options:

1) rent a van, 6k balikan

2) rent a classmate’s van, gas = 1000 balikan

3) commute, 200 balikan ;;)

rendezvous point is Walter Mart, for those who will be going from QC, Jollibee anyone?, there is a super market there, we can buy food ;)

Most efficient SLEX path is the last exit leading straight to walter mart and I (Victor) will lead us to Grand bay :D (courtesy of my cousin)

So yeah, conference tomorrow? anyone?

and 500 pesos each , that covers cottage, rooms, entrance fee (IDK if it covers transpo and food :>)

Rb 2011 end of the year blowout, version 2.0

March 10, 2010

For those who missed Batangas (Dale \m/), and is curious to know the meaning of admin, some students are planning an outing v 2.0, an overnight swimming in Laguna, There are many resorts in Laguna, but one suggestion is Monte vista. Monte Vista is one of the most expensive resorts in Laguna, and it is high class. If the rates are too high for the majority of us, we cna opt to choose other resorts than Monte Vista (There are tons of resorts in there ;) )

The date is still debated, but the most ideal is next or next next week or enrollment.

Transpo is still to be discussed, since most of us will be in Manila this March, it is easy to organize a transpo for those who are not near Laguna :D

If we decide to go for Monte Vista, then max’s has to be our food (outside food is not allowed there), but don’t worry, we still have many choices :)

Or we could go to Batangas again (Hi Dale :-h)

Hope this pushes through :-bd

Socsci like Woah.

February 21, 2010

Dear Students,

Please find attached the scope of the SocSci 4th Qtr Periodic Test (for Be, K, Mg, Rb, and Sr).

Kindly email this to the rest of your classmates or put it in your blog.  This is so that you can all start reviewing today (as I know you are all excited to do).

Please tell everyone to bring their textbooks next week.  I may give you time for study and we may also have graded activities to help you prepare for the perio.

Happy studying!

:) Ma’am Bawagan

SCOPE OF THE 4TH QTR PERIODIC TEST              SOCIAL SCIENCE 3   (Be, Mg, K, Rb, Sr)              SY 2009-2010

I. Transition to Modern Times

     A. The Growth of Modern European States

           1. Spain dominates Europe in the 16th century.

           2.  The Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648) begins as a religious war, but eventually turns into a battle

to maintain the balance of power.   At its end, much of Germany is in ruins and the Holy Roman

              Empire is severely weakened.

           3. Absolute monarchy triumphs in France during the long reign of Louis XIV (1643-1715).

           4. The power of English monarchs is limited.

            * The reign of Queen Elizabeth I witnesses the rise of England as the leading Protestant state and

Its rise as a naval power in the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588.

            * In 1628, Parliament forced King Charles I to agree to the Petition of Right, which set forth certain

civil liberties and limited the power of the king.

* In the (bloodless) “Glorious Revolution” of 1688, Parliament offered the throne to the Protestant

rulers William and Mary.  The new rulers agreed to the Bill of Rights, which assured the people basic

civil rights and established Parliament’s power over the English monarch.

           5. Russia is unified and strengthened during the reigns of Ivan the Great (15th c),

Peter the Great (17th-18th c), and Catherine the Great (18th c).

     B. The Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment

Be familiar with the contributions of the following (See the suggested pages in A History of the World.)

            a. Copernicus (p.402)

            b. Galileo (pp.402-404)

            c. Isaac Newton – What discoveries of Copernicus and Galileo did Newton build upon? (pp.403-405)

            d. John Locke – How did his ideas influence the American Revolution of 1776 and the French Revolution

                                          of 1789? (p.408)

            e. Voltaire – Although Voltaire favored the free expression of ideas, what did he believe was the best

                   form of government? (pp.411-412)

            f. Montesquieu – How have his ideas influenced the structure of Philippine government? (p.409)

            g. Jean D’ Alembert – Unlike most philosophes, how did he view women? (p.413)

II.  The “Fog of War”

  • documentary
  • 6-page handout on the “Fog of War”

 III.  World War I  :  Ch.29 – Introduction (p.637) & Summary (p.652);

  •  Years covered:  1914-1918
  •  Alliances formed:

-  Allies (France, Britain, Russia at first; then USA joined in 1917)

                      – Central Powers (Germany and Austria-Hungary, later the Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria)

  •  organization formed to maintain peace:  League of Nations

IV.   The World Between the Wars:  Ch.31 -  Introduction (p.673) & Summary (p.692)

  •  The Great Depression (particularly felt in the USA and Europe)

-          The stock market “crashed” in 1929. This was largely due to the prevalent practice of buying stocks on credit or installment buying (“Buy now, pay later.”)  When consumers could not pay, they stopped buying.  Factories had to cut back production, and unemployment rose.

-          The “crash” resulted in a sharp reduction in stock market prices, bank closures, and a rapid

decline in steel production.

V.  World War II :  Introduction (p.673) & Summary (p.692)

            *  Years covered:  1939-1945

            * Alliances formed: Allies (France, Britain, Soviet Union/USSR; USA joined in 1942)

Axis Forces (Germany, Italy, & Japan)

  • organization formed to maintain peace:  United Nations
